Donopoulos International Fine Arts gallery presents Wolf Hamm’s solo exhibition titled “Dass sich ein jeder traut, ein Bürger zu sein” and curated by Apostolos Palavrakis in the cultural compound of Mylos from 19 March until 18 April 2010. His complex compositions behind Plexiglas surfaces constitute microcosms where a variety of techniques, creative dialects and narrative structures cohabit and where colour and sketch are catered with equal reserves of intensity. Theatricality establishes powerful fields, within which fundamental dipoles such as life and death, then and now, existing and non existing are converted to a grid of ambiguous impressions and the heroes face the dilemma of communication versus isolation.
Born in 1974 in Delmenhorst, Germany, Hamm studied in the Fine Arts Academy of Düsseldorf by Siegfried Anzinger’s side. Discriminations from Bilbao Arts Institute and Städtische Galerie in Bremen, as well as a number of solo and group exhibitions in European cities signify his artistic path up until today. Hamm lives and works in Bremen and Bilbao.
